Volvo Compact Excavators Power And Versatility

When space is in short supply, Volvo’s range of mini excavators are in their element. Even with their compact size, the D-Series compact excavators boast digging performance, breakout and tear out forces, and lifting capabilities that rival their larger counterparts.

Super Superstructures

Featuring a narrow body design, the superstructure on the ECR models is so compact that its rear swings within its track shoe. This means the excavator can get extremely close to objects without risk of collision as it swings. The short front/rear radius is also well suited to working within a single highway lane, minimizing disruption to the flow of traffic. This feature can sometimes be a prequalification condition on contracts.

Impressive Efficiency

With state-of-the-art technology including Volvo’s unique ECO mode and load-sensing hydraulics, Volvo compact excavators deliver low fuel consumption with high digging power and fast cycle times. The ECO mode reduces fuel consumption by up to 10 per cent without any loss of performance in most operating conditions, while the load-sensing hydraulics supply power only when required.

The efficiency is further enhanced by the automatic idling system and automatic engine shut down function, which reduces engine speed and shuts the engine down, when the controls or machine have been inactive for a pre-set amount of time.
