Award-winning icon and fit-for-purpose footwear brand, Blundstone, has launched the tough new zip-sided #983 boot, offering features not usually seen in standard safety boots.
Now in its 150th year, Blundstone continues to provide sturdy and reliable boots, and this latest release takes that to the next level as the brand showcases one of its most innovative styles yet. Available now at selected retailers, the #983 is packed with premium features and provides ultimate underfoot protection, with a lightweight, penetration resistant insole. The heavy duty zip gives easy on, easy off convenience while the laces ensure a personalised fit and added ankle support.
Adrian Blandford, Global Work and Safety Range Manager says, “Throughout Blundstone’s history, we have prided ourselves on adapting to meet our customer’s needs. In the 1950s we produced boots for Tasmanian Zinc refinery, EZ, with wooden soles to protect against hydrochloric acid and now, in 2020 we’ve taken that same spirit of innovation to produce the #983 that meets the needs of those who need ultimate underfoot protection.”
One of the standout features of the new #983 is its crazy horse water resistant leather upper – a full nubuck leather that is buffed in order to achieve a smooth feel and finish. A wax is then applied to the surface, which works to provide a multi-tone leaving a natural rustic finish.
What makes the #983 a step above other safety boots is the non-metallic penetration resistant insole. Traditionally, penetration resistant insoles in safety footwear have been manufactured from steel. In the case of the #983 boot, a non-metallic penetration resistant insole is incorporated, which is crafted using plasma treated high tenacity yarns. These insoles are capable of reducing punctures caused by small nails and other objects, and the use of non-metallic material in the insole allows for maximum flexibility and comfort due to its lightweight construction. As it can be sewn directly to the upper material, it enables protection to almost 100 per cent of the surface of the sole.
“#983 is an instant game changer. It’s ergonomic fit and flexibility makes it great for those who work in wrecking yards, construction sites and the recycling industry, as the penetration resistant insole helps reduce the risk of sharp objects puncturing your feet,” continues Adrian.
“In ensuring we provide the high-quality safety our customers know and love, we have delivered on the next superior hardworking boot, fit for anyone who wants that legendary Blundstone comfort.”
*The Blundstone #983 is available online and in-stores via select retailers throughout Australia, and is backed by a 30-day comfort and six-month manufacturing guarantee.
