Landscaping Victoria (LV) launched its podcast, The Front Garden, during the pandemic, and it has now tipped over the 100-episode mark, being downloaded by almost 60,000 listeners.

Speaking to Landscape Contractor magazine, Landscaping Victoria CEO Ritchie Hinton explained how the podcast came about.

“During COVID, LV was looking for ways to connect with our members and provide something a bit different while we were all not working to our usual patterns,” explained Hinton. “At the time, a couple of LV board members, Chris Weiss and Tyson Owen, put their hands up to have a go at hosting a podcast, and it went from there.”

When asked how the podcast had evolved, Hinton replied, “Chris and Tyson will be the first to say they were a little bit wet behind the ears in terms of broadcasting when they started. In fact, they had no experience whatsoever behind the mic! But after a few stumbles and mumbles, they got the hang of it and really hit their stride.

“From initially concentrating on chatting to existing LV members about their journey in the traditional landscaping industry, we have consciously broadened the pool of guests,” he continued. “Recent guests have joined us from across the industry, ranging from internationally renowned designer Paul Bangay, to more niche-subject-matter experts from Tradeswomen Australia and SunSmart, as well as the heavy machinery and maintenance sectors.”
