Renault Trafic Now The Automatic Choice

Your hardest worker just got better: the facelifted Trafic now adds an automatic transmission.

Renault will add a 6-speed automatic transmission to its Trafic mid-sizevan for the 2020 model year update, meaning that all three of its light commercial vehicles now offer the option of manual or self-shifting transmissions.

The slick 6-speed is borrowed from the racy Megane Renault Sport hot-hatch and slips through the ratios with quiet precision. The Efficient Dual Clutch transmission is driven by a new engine for the Trafic as well, a 125kW 2.0-litre turbodiesel that delivers 380Nm of torque, plenty for hauling even the highest loads that the Trafic can carry, including its 2-tonne towing capacity.

The Trafic auto will also be available in the very popular Crew Lifestyle variant, providing up to six seats and 4.0m3 of carrying capacity in the rear – ideal as a work-crew van for the week, and family funster on the weekend.

The arrival of the long-awaited automatic transmission for Trafic coincides with a facelift across the range, which includes a new-look dashboard, new upholstery and a bevy of driver convenience features. These will be especially handy for owners and drivers for whom the Trafic is their mobile office from 7-to-7.

Outside the Trafic gains new look LED headlamps and a new grille design, but retains its bold, shapely overall appearance.

Joining the new Trafic in the Renault PRO+ and national Renault dealership network showrooms in 2020 is a facelift for the larger Master van. This gains a significantly reworked and squarer, bolder and more masculine-looking frontal design, while the dashboard and interior trim is all new, incorporating more electronic and connectivity features.

Building on almost 10 years of customer feedback, there are neat additional touches that make life easier day-to-day, such as more grab handles for easier access to the load area, LED interior lights in the back, as well as new safety systems such as Lane Departure Warning and side wind dynamic compensation technology, which helps to keep the high-sided van in its lane even when it’s blowing a gale.

“Renault has been Europe’s leading supplier of light commercial vehicles for the past 20 years because it listens to its customers and delivers on feedback,” says Charly Clercin, Product Planning Manager from Renault Australia.

“The updates for the Trafic and Master add new features and benefits for ownersand drivers, while the addition of the automatic transmission for Trafic will allow a lot more businesspeople to buy one, given the prevalence of automatic-only licence holders among their staff.

“The automatic transmission will make a great Renault van even greater, and even more appealing to even more van buyers.

“And of course with our reassurance package of a factory 3-year/unlimited km warranty, up to four years of roadside assistance and capped price servicing for the first three scheduled services, with up to 30,000km or annual service intervals, there are many compelling financial, convenience and efficiency reasons to add a Renault van to your business. And best of all, now they look even smarter, inside and out, sending a positive message about your business to your clients,” Charly says.
