Every industry that uses forklifts is encouraged to take part in National Forklift Safety Day on June 9, 2026. Whether hosting seminars or providing opportunities for their operators to certify and attend seminars, the day is about ensuring a safe and efficient atmosphere.
Founded by the American Industrial Truck Association, there are several ways to participate in National Forklift Safety Day:
* Review training schedules and protocols for forklift drivers;
* ensure all operators are current in their training certifications;
* review and update equipment safety check guidelines;
* trainers need to maintain the most current knowledge and understanding of a company’s protocols; and
* attend webinars that share the latest in safety equipment and standards.
SafeWORK NSW offers these pointers for forklift safety:
* Separate people from moving forklifts, using barriers or guardrails;
* if forklifts can’t be physically separated from people, clearly mark walkways and safe work zones, and ensure workers stick to them;
* make sure forklift operators only move loads that are stable on the pallet or use an attachment if needed;
* make sure forklift operators wear a seat belt;
* make sure workers and visitors, including delivery drivers, stick to the traffic-management plan and site safety rules; and
* talk to all workers – including operators and those who work near forklifts – about how to work safely around forklifts.
