Equipment manufacturer JCB is set to adopt a new distribution strategy in Australia to support its growing range of construction equipment and agricultural machinery.

JCB CEO Graeme Macdonald said: “The existing model of an independent importer distributing JCB machines in Australia has run its course. JCB is successful globally because we get close to and stay close to customers by providing the industry’s best after-sales and service support. So during 2026, we plan to set up our own national headquarters in Australia and appoint a network of independent dealers across the country to ensure proper market coverage to support all customers in all states and territories.”

Tim Burnhope, Group Managing Director of JCB Sales said: ”We’re at the dawn of a new era for JCB in Australia. Our passion to grow the JCB brand involves changing how we do business. It’s clear to me that there are great opportunities to grow in Australia across all customer segments but we do need a different operating model to make the most of these opportunities.

We look forward to working closely with our outstanding independent dealer network in Australia to provide first-class products and after-sales support to our construction, agricultural and rental customers. The JCB product range is expanding rapidly and this new distribution approach for Australia will allow for a much better focus on a market that is very important to JCB.”

Macdonald added: “JCB has just celebrated its 80th birthday. We’ve taken stock of what has contributed to our success over the past 80 years and we’ve made decisions about what we need to do to be even more successful in the future. At the heart of our success is how we focus on the requirements of customers and we need to do a lot more to support the Australian market. Our decision to set up a new national headquarters means we can support our customers in Australia far better than before.”
