Landscape Industries Association of WA (LIAWA), in collaboration with peak landscaping bodies across Australia and Skills Insight, is leading a National Industry Skills Review.
Demand for skilled labour in Western Australia remains high and action is underway to address longstanding issues in the representation of landscaping roles within national workforce systems. Many existing job titles and training frameworks no longer accurately reflect the skill, expertise and complexity of contemporary landscaping work.
Feedback gathered through this process will be provided directly to federal policymakers and will inform the development of national training standards, as well as influence future funding for careers in the landscape sector.
Workshop objectives include:
* Defining modern job roles that align with current industry practice;
* mapping clear career pathways across design, construction, maintenance and green infrastructure;
* identifying the technical skills required for a contemporary landscaping workforce; and
* strengthening industry advocacy for improved recognition and VET investment.
