The report of the independent review of the Landscape SA Act 2019 has been tabled in Parliament and is now public.
The independent review, held over six-months and led by the Honourable John Hill, kicked off in August 2023 and was tasked to assess the effectiveness and operation of the Landscape Act.
Over 130 written submissions about the Act and related legislation were received during the public consultation period, and after due consideration, the report puts forward 66 recommendations across 14 areas of the Act in an effort to enhance and strengthen the Landscape SA system and its objectives.
The Minister for Climate, Environment and Water, Susan Close, who has overall responsibility for implementation of the Landscape Act, will now consider the report’s findings and recommendations and a prepare a response.
Any reforms pursued by the minister will involve a thorough consultation and engagement process.
