Dasso Fused-Bamboo Is A Popular Choice

Dasso fused-bamboo is a worldwide success story and has been used in many prestigious projects and buildings.

Over 800,000m² of the bamboo has been installed across the world from Madrid Airport ceiling strips to the boardwalk on Banana Island, Doha.

Bamboo is technically grass and the world’s fastest growing plant making it one of the most sustainable materials. It can be harvested every four to six years compared to 50 years for commercial wood. It is very much the ultimate renewable.

The fused-bamboo is created using a two-stage process of high heat, first to thermalise the bamboo strands, removing all the starches and sugars, and then further strengthening the bamboo by fusing phenolic resin into the bamboo cells – the same resins used to make bowling balls. The result is a dense, beautiful, long lasting, and rapidly renewable natural alternative to chemically treated and exotic rainforest hardwoods.

It is composed of 87 per cent natural, fused strand bamboo fibres. As the nutrients are removed from the bamboo fibre, the material no longer attracts bacteria, fungus, mould or bugs.

No preservatives are added, which means that it does not leach or emit any chemicals. It comes in a darker expresso colour (XTR) and a more natural cognac colour (CTECH).

The fused-bamboo behaves much like a natural building material. While minimum maintenance is needed, if you wish to keep the original colour, oiling will be required every 6 to 12 months. However, it can be left and will eventually turn a silver-grey patina colour.

This recent pool deck installation (pictured in ad below) in Brisbane showcases the quality finish of the fused bamboo. Not only does this natural product look great, it is hard-wearing, durable and a low maintenance solution.

Environmentally friendly, sustainable, competitively priced, hard and durable, BAL 29 is fire rated, easy to use, and with a 25 year warranty it provides the new natural alternative for decking and cladding.
