Landscaping Victoria represents the full spectrum of greenscape industries. Looking to a big year ahead, the association’s commitment to strengthening that collective voice has never been more important.
In an industry as broad and interconnected as landscaping, progress is never the work of a single voice. It’s the combined effort of designers and builders, maintenance professionals, commercial contractors, pool builders, arborists, growers, suppliers, and businesses of every size, from students and sole traders to companies employing hundreds.
This year marks a significant transition for Landscaping Victoria (LV). The association extends its sincere thanks to outgoing President Ian Barker for his leadership and the foundation built over the past two years. His work, alongside the Board and LV team, has positioned the organisation with clarity, confidence, and momentum – a platform from which we now continue to grow with a big year ahead. Ian will remain on the Board to ensure a smooth transition and will continue to contribute to the industry and association he cares so much about.
New man
Stepping into the presidency, Mathew Wandmaker brings industry experience and a long-standing commitment to service. As Director of Blueridge Property Maintenance, Mat represents a vital sector of LV membership and understands firsthand the diversity of the challenges and opportunities across the wider industry.
“For me, stepping into the presidency is about strengthening and expanding our membership across the green industry,” said Mat. “This role is my way of giving back to an industry that has supported me through thick and thin, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of an association that represents so much more than just landscapers.”
Looking forward
A focus for a big year ahead is the continued effort to elevate LV’s voice to government at both state and federal levels. This is more important than ever at a time when government is looking for leadership and guidance to assist with its flagship housing and carbon-emission policies. LV members’ expertise in design, horticulture, construction, and ongoing land care has them uniquely positioned to contribute to the conversation and further their interests.
Modernising member experience is another priority. A new member-management system is planned. This will help streamline renewals, improve event registration, and expand online learning and service opportunities. The goal is simple: more value, less friction, with the efficiencies gained to be re-invested into the association.
Vice President
LV is also pleased to welcome Ross Anderson as Vice President.
As a senior manager at William Adams CAT, Ross brings supplier experience and an understanding of the machinery and technology that underpin the landscaping industry. He also brings valuable insight as President of the British Columbia Landscape and Nursery Association in Canada.
“LV plays an important role in fostering connection across the industry,” said Ross. “I’m delighted to step into the Vice President’s role at such an exciting time, and I look forward to contributing wherever I can add value.”
In a good place
With a strong financial position, ever-growing member engagement through Industry Nights and Master Classes, and an increasingly crucial and influential presence in conversations shaping Victoria’s green future, LVs entering an exciting and pivotal chapter in its history.
The association’s commitment is clear: to elevate professionalism, champion industry diversity, and ensure members’ expertise is recognised as essential in delivering the greener, healthier, more resilient environments our state is striving toward.
Together, we’ll continue raising the standard and strengthening the industry we all help shape.
