Space might have been the final frontier for Captain Kirk, but for landscapers spending each and every day engaged in physical labour, comfort is more likely to be a key requirement when buying a new van.

No one wants to spend the dreary drive home in a noisy or harsh cabin, and the Trafic cossets with welcoming seats with excellent support, as well as impressive sound-deadening assisted by the full width bulkhead.

While the Renault Trafic delivers peace-and-quiet unmatched in its segment making it a standout choice, the range now boasts a new arrival in the form of a long-wheelbase version of the 85kW-powered turbo-diesel engine, adding more space for less money to the Trafic equation. So now you can fit all your gear in the back along with all your consumables for the day’s jobs.

Previously, Trafic buyers have needed to opt for the 103kW twin-turbo diesel engine to access the long-wheelbase model.

But now with the arrival of the 85kW LWB with 6m3 of load area, there’s space aplenty, comfort in spades, and fuel economy to make a ride-on lawn mower blush.

Adding to the appeal, 85kW engine models specified with satellite navigation now incorporate Apple CarPlay, making it even easier for landscapers who run their businesses and their diaries through the apps on their phones.

The new 85LWB is priced from $35,990 drive away. This makes it a full $4000 cheaper than the twin-turbo Trafic 103LWB, which is currently selling from $39,990 drive away.

As with all Renaults, there are many interior and exterior fit-out features available that can make life easier: flooring and interior panel protection systems, as well as dealer fit roof-racks and internal racking are all helpful, while front-wheel drive means a very low loading height into the rear, a significant benefit over a traditional ute if you’re hauling machinery in and out all day.

“The 85LWB model is one we’ve been keen to add to the range for some time,” said Lyndon Healey, Product Manager for Renault Australia LCV.

“It provides a more affordable long-wheelbase option for Trafic customers who might operate in environments where power is less important, or those who aren’t carrying the heaviest loads, but need the extra space that the 6m3 load bay capacity provides. Even so, the 85LWB can carry a payload of up to 1294kg and tow 2-tonnes.

Renault Trafic Offers More for Less “When you compare the Renault Trafic 85LWB with its direct rivals on price, specification, load capacities and running costs, the Trafic delivers a pretty compelling package,” Lyndon said.
